I am about to share with you two things that may extend the life of your cockatiel from 5 to 10 years, seriously. By providing proper care of cockatiels in the way of the right diet and proper sleep patterns you can add litarally years on to the life of you cockatiel.
Most people get this wrong…
When you think about cockatiel as being birds, you might instantly get the idea that since your cockatiel is a bird it automatically eats seeds. This is true to some extent. Seeds to a bird can be addictive. Yes, I said addictive.
The owners of cockatiel dont get that feeding their cockatiel a diet of just bird seed is not all that benifical to the cockatiel. In fact, there should be a mixture of food. You should introduce fresh fruits, vegatables and pellets.
To properly care for a cockatiel, cutting up fresh fruits and veggies does take some work, but is the health of your cockatiel worth it? I think we all know the answer to that question.
Why should we feed cockatiels fruits and veggies. It provides the vitamins and nutrients needed to keep your cockatiel healthy. Many people who believe that just seeds as a method to care for cockatiel are wrong.
Many people who feed there their cockatiels just seeds are actually slowly killing their beloved pets. I not saying this to be mean, but in defense of the defenseless.
I did mention another option…
Pellets provide a couple of benefits…
- All the vitamins and minerals your cockatiel needs (promoting a healthy lifestyle)
- They are easy to find
- They are convenient
What’s interesting is that most cockatiel owners know nothing about pellets, it too bad really, this relatively inexpensive option can literally save a cockatiel from illness and an early death. The number priority for cockatiel owners is keeping their companions safe, healthy and happy.
I said i had Two things I wanted to bring to light… The other is sleep.
Your cockatiel needs at least ten to twelve hours of sleep every night to be a healthy bird. If you neglect this point, it will get cranky, depressed and might get sick. A great way to insure that your cockatiel gets the right amount of sleep is to cover the cage at night, this will help block out the light that can keep the cockatiel awake.
These tips will help you have your cockatiel around for years to come.
Here is just one resource where you can find pellets
